7 Ways Young People Can Improve Their Prayer Life

1ytuyBy Jerome Baker

Prayer is an essential quality of a Christian. Prayer is worshiping God by communicating with Him. Prayer causes the will of God to manifest here on earth, as well as is a source of strength for the believer.  If a teenager does not worship the Lord effectively in prayer it can be devastating to one’s walk with the Lord. Jesus said it best in Luke 18:1, Man is to always pray and not faint. Fainting has to do with giving up, getting weary, or losing hope. In order to be productive as a young person in Christ, prayer is mandatory. Here are some ways youth and young adults can improve their prayer life.

1.  Take prayer seriously.

Prayer is a form of worship and it should be taken seriously. Where you are down on your knees praying, in the car, on a bus, or in the shower, God answers prayer. Daniel took prayer as a boy so seriously that he prayed three times a day. Take prayer seriously, because prayer changes things.

2.  Be determined to pray consistently.

There are so many distractions that can hinder a good prayer life. But, if you can do social media every day, then you can pray daily. Developing a strong prayer life takes consistency. Make time to pray.

3.  Pray sincerely.

I heard my pastor say recently, “God likes real people.” When you pray don’t be fake. Let God know where you are, what you are dealing with, and what you need. Be real with God. When we are real with God, He is real with us.

4.  Stay in church.

In Scripture, the Lord mainly answered people’s prayers by speaking through His prophets. If you are in a local church with a genuine God sent pastor, stay in church. God will often speaks through use your Spirit-led pastor to answer your prayers. Don’t be discouraged when you don’t get an immediate answer from your prayer. Keep praying and stay in church.

5.  Allow the Holy Spirit to pray through you.

Allowing the Holy Spirit to pray through will strengthen you. When we allow The Spirit to pray through us He helps us with our weaknesses.

6.  Don’t allow doubt to enter your heart.

No matter what you are up against, nothing is too hard for God. However, doubting God can hinder prayers from being answered. Keep believing, even when you have been praying for something for a while. Keep believing and don’t doubt.

7.  Believe what you are asking will happen.

Don’t put God on your time table. His time is the best time. So when you pray, pray believing that what you have requested according to His Word will be done. Trust God before, during, and after prayer. It may take some time, but God always answers the prayers of the righteous.
