Be Different, Be Better

Daniel 1:20 And in all matters of wisdom and understanding about which the king examined them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers who were in all his realm.

One trait every young man and woman of God should possess is the desire to be the best. Being average, normal, or like the crowd is a standard the people of God should not accept. In Daniel 1:20, we see an excellent example of young people being above average examples. In fact, these four young men were ten times better than their peers. Whether in academics, athletics, personal behavior, or on the job strive to be the best. Doing so brings glory to God.

Let God’s Word be the measuring stick of excellence in life. Teens and young adults that truly desire to be trendsetters are not comfortable being like the world, they are different. Strive to be better than what is considered normal. With Christ, be a trendsetter.

Prayer Scriptures to meditate on:

Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;

Forget The Past, Press Forward

The arrival of a new year brings a fresh start to life.  As you begin this new year reflect on the victories God helped you possess in the previous months.  Be thankful and mostly be wiser because of your past experiences.  Furthermore, learn from last year’s mistakes.  Don’t be a fool in this new year and repeat the foolishness that caused you to stumble last year.

As we embark on this year’s path, be the young man or woman that keeps God first in your life, refuse to associate with people that are harmful to your growth and success, and be a blessing to others.

May God’s grace and blessings be with you throughout in 2017.

Philippians 3:12-13 Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. 13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead,

Defeating Depression

When depression attacks it makes you worry, become negative, lose hope, or even your will to live. The good news is you can defeat depression if you want too. God has provided a way of escape. You can be happy and hopeful again. Instead of listening to the voices of negativity, listen to the voice of victory. A good word from God, a loved one, or a friend is a door that leads to a path of deliverance.

Proverbs 12:25 Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, But a good word makes it glad.

Lord, Protect Our Students

As our students begin school this week let us remember to keep them covered in prayer. Not only them, but the faculty and staff members as well. As parents and youth leaders we can not be with them all the time at school or college, but our God can defend them. Lord we trust You to protect our youth and young adults on their campuses near and far. In Jesus Name, Amen.

But let all those rejoice who
put their trust in You; Let
them ever shout for joy,
because You defend them;
Let those also who love Your
name Be joyful in You.
Psalms 5:11

A Blessed Death

The death of a loved one often comes with pain, it is part of the process. Yet when the loved one is a bonafide Christian, we can rejoice and take comfort in knowing that their death was blessed. A Christian that dies in the Lord is not lost. We know exactly where they are, resting from their labor in Heaven with our Lord Jesus Christ. To my friend and brother in Christ Demetrius, we will miss you…..but the saints will see you again.

“Then I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’ ” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow them.””
