Check Your Rep

How we behave leaves a lasting impression. How we behave also shows others what we think about ourselves and what we think about those who have shaped and molded us.

What are you known for? Is your reputation giving glory to God or is it embarrassing to Him? Are you known as a slacker or someone that is about business? Are you known for being a servant or selfish? Are you more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus or just a cry baby?

We must take time to evaluate our self and improve our reputation. Or as someone said back in the 90’s, “Check yourself before you wreck yourself”.

Meditation Scripture

Proverbs 20:11 Even a child is known by his deeds, Whether what he does is pure and right.

Black Man, Inventor of Super Soaker

Lonnie Johnson is best known for inventing the Super Soaker water gun, which has ranked among the world’s top 20 best-selling toys every year since its release.

While doing work with the U.S. Air Force, he still had time for his hobbies. This is when he first thought of the Super Soaker (officially there is not a space between Super and Soaker). On October 14, 1983 he applied for a U.S. patent. On May 27, 1986 he received patent number 4,591,071.Initially it was called the “Power Drencher” when it appeared in toy shops in 1990, but after some tweaks and remarketing, it got its official name. Selling between $10 to $60 depending on the model, the Super Soaker took off, generating $200 million in sales in 1991.

Unfortunately, Johnson discovered he was underpaid royalties for the Super Soaker and several "Nerf line of toys, specifically the N-Strike and Dart Tag brands." In November 2013, Johnson was awarded nearly $73 million in royalties from Hasbro Inc. in arbitration. According to Hasbro, the Super Soaker is approaching sales of $1 billion.

Don’t Be A Pushover

At some point in life someone will attempt to see if you are a wimp. As a Christian we should not be pushover. In fact, the Scripture tells us to be strong in the Lord. Secondly, the Bible calls us more than conquerors. And lastly, remember God did not give us the spirit of fear.

Strive to be a mighty young person like David, Daniel, and even Jesus. Be steadfast in standing on God’s Word. Don’t allow yourself or your peers to cause you to compromise your standards. Don’t be a pushover. Be a trendsetter.

Scriptures to meditate on:
2 Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
Ephesians 6:10 “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.”

Can You Stand The Rain?

Fights with friends, things going crazy in your personal life, disagreements with parents, making tough choices, or dealing with lack are just a few examples of dealing with the storms of life. But, can you stand the rain?

Being angry about your situation doesn’t stop the rain. Pouting about your problems does not help you overcome your issues either. Remaining depressed and stressed will not improve the situation.

The rain may intensify. The rain of problems may cause floods of pressure and pain, but praise God through it all. How can you make it through the storms of life? Find and meditate on encouraging Scriptures in the Word, listen to the Word from your pastor, and then rejoice in knowing that the victory is yours. The rain may continue but praising the Lord and focusing on His Word will help you to endure what you go through. Rain stroms don’t last forever, better is coming.

Can you stand the rain? With Jesus, yes you can.

Scriptures to meditate on:

Isaiah 26:3 You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.

Nehemiah 8:10 …for the joy of the Lord is your strength.

Let’s Just Move On

Sometimes you just have to move on.  Especially when things don’t go your way.  It hurts. You are disappointed.  You feel bitter and angry. You may even have some regrets, but life must go on.

Lazarus died, but Jesus keep doing ministry, the Lord moved on.  Peter and all the disciples abandoned Jesus, but the Lord moved on to Calvary.  Job’s wife turned her back on the man of God, but Job moved on.

The Falcons blew the Super Bowl…….let’s just move on.

Prayer Scriptures to meditate on:
Psalms 119:107 I am afflicted very much; Revive me, O Lord, according to Your word.
