Four Signs Of Jealousy

Sooner or later every young person will experience a jealous friend or acquaintance.  Dealing with jealous people can be a task. So, here are four helpful ways you can identify if a person maybe jealous.

1. Not happy for others.
Jealous people are not happy for others when they succeed.  Jealously causes people to be angry, bitter, and mean when a friend accomplishes some degree of happiness or accomplishment.  Watch out, because some jealous people can be vindictive when you succeed.
Proverbs 27:4 Wrath is cruel and anger a torrent, But who is able to stand before jealousy?

2. Easily find fault it other people’s good.
Jealous people are insecure. Jealous people enjoy finding fault in others that are doing better than they are. They are quick to be negative about others when good things are happening for someone besides them self.
Genesis 37:10-11 So he told it to his father and his brothers; and his father rebuked him and said to him, “What is this dream that you have dreamed? Shall your mother and I and your brothers indeed come to bow down to the earth before you?” And his brothers envied him, but his father kept the matter in mind.

3. Rooted hatred.
Jealous people pretend to be joyous when you shine, but inwardly they hate it.  (Be sure to read my previous blog post, 4 Reasons To Thank God For Your Haters).
Proverbs 14:30 A sound heart is life to the body, But envy is rottenness to the bones.

4. Unwilling to help.
Jealous people will not help others to succeed.  They talk like they have your back but when it is time to show support they leave you hanging because of spite.  Instead of helping you get to another level, a jealous person can be cruel with their words and actions.
Song of Solomon 8:6 ….jealousy is cruel as the grave:….

Be encouraged, don’t let your haters kill your joy!
